History Of The Runes:

Runes historically appear around the early bronze age, these original markings appeared in various caves at that time.
The word Rune originates from the old Norse, meaning "secret knowledge & wisdom, this is really apt due to the story of how Odin first learnt the runes:
Odin hung himself in the World Tree, Yggdrasil. For 9 stormy nights he hung there speared to the great Ash by his own spear! Below him was the well of Urd, the source of Wisdom and guarded by the 3 Norn's (witches) who weaved everyone's fates. On the ninth day, and at the brink of death, Odin saw the shapes and understood their deep meanings.
