Viking Shield, Round Anglo Saxon

These are my favourite thing to make, what gets me the most attention at festivals and markets and they are what have brought me a social media following of 20,000 people and counting!

I will work closely with you to add any design you want. Every piece of carving on the Customised Shield is added just for you. Every element is created around your wishes, hand drawn and then hand carved. No computer printed designs, no machine carving and No Lasers just good old fashioned craftsmanship.
Dragons are always a favourite on these, especially the Leviathan World Serpent. I have also carved Album covers, like the Sex Pistols Anarchy in the UK. Represented family members as a pride of lions, family pets, significant quotes, designed family crests and much more besides.

Shields in History :
Shields have been used for tens of thousands of years. They have been made from tree bark, wood, hide and metal. The typical Viking shields that these have been based from were used from 300AD to 1100AD before the use of cavalry started to change their shape. Viking shields were typically laminated to ensure that however they are hit the strike is always against the grain; this is also how I make my shields!

Viking Shield Care instructions:
• The shield should be oiled with mineral oil or a similar clear finishing oil.
• Wood will dry out and shrink causing cracks if not maintained. I recommend oiling approx. every 6 months.
Ideally do not hang above a radiator.
