Horns in History
Drinking horns were used throughout Europe (Viking, Greek, Roman, Germanic Tribes and Saxons) up to around the 12th Century where pottery starts to become more wide spread. There were a few finds from 12th and 13th Century with a resurgence after that as a sign of power. Ornate Drinking Horns began to be used by Nobles, Clergy and Guildsmen during ceremonies. However; Drinking horns have been used since before humans existed!
This means that they can be used by any living history period, especially if used plain.
How To Clean A Drinking Horn:
Rinse with warm soapy water
Allow to dry completely
Apply a food grade oil, mineral or veg oil is OK
If you notice a persistent odour soak with White Vinegar and Water for a couple of hours.
DO NOT DISHWASHER or use hot water.
