A historically authentic Francisca Viking throwing axe — hand forged in 5160 carbon steel and available plain or fully customised with hand carving to any design you want.

These are what I use on my own axe throwing range! Customisation is my thing — I hand draw and hand carve, so I can work on any design from Nordic carving to Iron Maiden themed axes. If I can draw it, I can carve it.

A little history: The Francisca was used as a weapon during the Early Middle Ages by most European tribes, but mainly the Franks, from around 500 to 750 AD. It is known to have been used during the reign of Charlemagne (768–814) — probably the best Viking throwing axe in history!

Care Instructions:

  • Carbon steel will rust — oil after use. Mineral oil is recommended as it works on the handle and leather sheath too
  • If stored in the leather sheath, oil then wrap in plastic (clingfilm works great) to prevent rusting
