I bought several sets of the hinges and locks for some Norse style chests I was making. All I can say is this craftsman is excellent, the hinges work really well and are in keeping with my project. The lock and key is to the same superb standard, work well and really finish a sea chest off perfectly. I'm very happy with my purchases, fast delivery and well packaged. Excellent value for money considering the work that must go into these items.

This is the chest that survived a Viking Age bog for over a thousand years. The Mastermyr chest — found on the island of Gotland, Sweden — is the largest Viking Age tool find in Europe, and this is a faithful full-size replica, hand-built in my South Wales workshop.
It's not just a box. Vikings used these chests as luggage, rowing benches, and storage on longships crossing the North Sea. Every joint, every cut is made for strength and authenticity. No stencils, no printouts — all hand-drawn and hand-carved.

The Story Behind It
The Mästermyr chest was discovered in a bog on Gotland, Sweden — still packed with the tools of a Viking Age craftsman who never came back for it. It's thought he was crossing bogland and lost everything. His misfortune is our window into Viking craftsmanship. Read more on my blog: The Unluckiest Viking Craftsman Ever.
