To the Vikings, the wolf represented protection, trust, strength and loyalty. Fenrir — the great wolf of Norse myth — is cast here in antique silver stainless steel, his head forming the terminals of a twisted rope torque based on an authentic historical find.

Worn around the neck or wrapped around the upper arm — both are authentic Viking ways to wear a torque, and this one is adjustable enough to do either. Lords bestowed arm rings and torques to secure bonds of fealty, evidenced in Scandinavian sagas and the Old English epic Beowulf. To wear one was to carry both status and story.
