The same ethically sourced ox horn as the plain version — but this one carries something more. Lightly carved with Younger Futhark runes spelling Bushman Survival, it connects the horn to the tradition it comes from. Subtle, not showy. The kind of detail you notice when you pick it up.
Each horn is a natural product. The curves, the colour, the weight — all unique. No two are the same.
Designed by Paul at Bushman Survival and crafted to his specification.
About Younger Futhark
Younger Futhark is the runic alphabet used by the Vikings from around the 8th century onwards — a simplified form of the older Elder Futhark, adapted as the Norse language evolved. It was the dominant writing system of the Viking Age, used on runestones, weapons, and personal objects across Scandinavia and wherever the Norse settled. Carving a name or phrase in Younger Futhark was a mark of identity and ownership.

How to Blow a War Horn
These are functional instruments and do require a technique — once you get it, the sound is extraordinary. I’ll be posting a YouTube tutorial shortly on how to get the best sound from yours.
I bought several sets of the hinges and locks for some Norse style chests I was making. All I can say is this craftsman is excellent, the hinges work really well and are in keeping with my project. The lock and key is to the same superb standard, work well and really finish a sea chest off perfectly. I'm very happy with my purchases, fast delivery and well packaged. Excellent value for money considering the work that must go into these items.
Had a little incident of getting the wrong order but the seller was so nice about sorting it. Both the wrong order and the order place came very quick and are very well made! Absolutely recommend!!
