The Borre style emerged in Scandinavia around the 9th century and flourished through the early 10th — one of the defining art forms of the Viking Age. Named after a ship burial site in Norway, it is characterised by interlaced ring-chain patterns, gripping beasts, and bold geometric symmetry. This cloak pin faithfully reproduces that aesthetic: a circular frame of interlaced knotwork with the distinctive Borre beast motifs, cast in antique silver finish metal.

Worn at the shoulder to fasten a cloak or cape, the penannular pin is one of the oldest and most practical fastening forms in Norse and Celtic dress — in use from the Iron Age through the Viking Age and beyond.
