A Viking drinking horn tankard hand carved with one of the most dramatic tales in Norse mythology — Thor's Fishing Trip, in which the God of Thunder comes face to face with Jörmungandr, the World Serpent.
Designed by me at Bushman Survival and crafted to my specification.
The Story
Thor and the giant Hymir row out to sea to fish. Thor baits his hook with the head of Hymir's greatest ox and casts his line into the deep. What takes the bait is no ordinary fish — it is Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, so vast that it encircles the entire world and bites its own tail.
The serpent thrashes and pulls. Thor hauls back with such force that his feet crash through the hull of the boat. He drags Jörmungandr to the surface — the two ancient enemies staring each other down across the gunwale, the serpent spitting venom, Thor raising Mjölnir for the killing blow.
Hymir, terrified, cuts the line. Jörmungandr sinks back into the depths. Thor hurls Mjölnir after it — whether it strikes or not, the skalds do not agree.
They will meet again at Ragnarök. Thor will kill the serpent and walk nine steps before falling dead from its venom.
