About the Oseberg Style

The Oseberg 178 style is based on finds from the Oseberg ship burial and the Hedeby Harbour discovery, with construction very similar to the larger Mastermyr chest. What sets a sea chest apart from a simple box is the joinery — each side uses different cuts to add strength, because these were used as luggage, rowing benches, and general furniture on Viking longships crossing the North Sea.

Perfect For

  • Home display and decoration
  • Storage for tools, craft items, or valuables
  • Viking and Anglo-Saxon reenactment
  • A genuinely unique piece of furniture
