These are my favourite axes to carve. Based on an actual find from a Viking burial, this is a Skeggox-style Ragnar axe — no mass production, no shortcuts, just a bespoke piece born from genuine passion for the craft.

Every axe is made for one person. I'll work with you on the design — every element hand-drawn, then hand-carved into the steel and handle. Dragons, wolves, knotwork, runes, portraits, film themes — if I can draw it, I can carve it.

A Bit of History

The Skeggox — from the Old Norse "Skegg" (beard) and "Ox" (axe) — was in widespread use from around the 6th century and is one of the defining weapons of the Viking Age. This axe is based on an actual archaeological find from a Viking burial.

Care Instructions

  • Carbon steel will rust — oil after every use. Mineral oil works on the steel, handle, and leather sheath.
  • If storing in the leather sheath, oil first then wrap in clingfilm to prevent rust.
